Career Options

A commonly asked question is - “How do I get started in an aviation career?”

Obtaining a Commercial Pilot Licence will not automatically guarantee you a job at a major airline.

Having qualified for your Commercial Pilot Licence does not automatically ensure that you will be employed by a major airline. Working in an airline requires extra qualifications, and more importantly - experience.

There are many ways and means of achieving this. However, generally the traditional way has been to get an Instructor Rating after obtaining your CPL and build up your experience as you teach student pilots.

Is This All Worth It?

Absolutely.

While salaries are not published, they range from the high 5 figures for an individual starting off with a major airline up to 6 figures for a check and training captain.

In addition, there are generally highly discounted airfares for salaried aircrew and their dependants.

Irrespective of your goals and aspirations, a chat with the management staff at Babcock CFA will be the first step in deciding how to pursue a career in the exciting world of aviation.
